Over a year ago, Sally was looking for something new that could help to calm her mind. She was going through a difficult time in life and thought that yoga could be the answer. 14 months on, she is now a regular at the Seaton studio and is even practicing at home. Safe to say, she is now a true yogi… and she is also our Seaton studio student of the month!
A netball player, a single Mum and now a yoga-lover, Sally’s life is a busy one! She uses yoga to help center herself and calm her mind. “As a single Mum, I don’t get a lot of time to myself!” she says. Through yoga, she also feels that she has gained new strength and skills that have helped to improve her netball game.
“I never thought Yoga would become such an important part of my life. I am a much happier person since starting yoga, it really has changed my outlook on life.”
Sally first started yoga for emotional reasons, looking for some relief during a stressful time in her life. “When I started yoga I was really struggling with depression and anxiety,” she says, “it has helped me get back to a place where I am happy and I can manage my emotions daily.” Sally is now a regular face at the Seaton studio, and many of the teachers have commented on how much progress she has made — both physically and emotionally. “I never thought Yoga would become such an important part of my life,” says Sally, “I am a much happier person since starting yoga, it really has changed my outlook on life.”
Warrior 2 is Sally’s favourite pose to practice, because it helps to relieve tightness in her hips. “Once I learnt how to do this pose properly, it felt really empowering and I could feel the benefits of it,” she explains, “I always feel really refreshed after this pose.” Sally has also been enjoying a home practice, and likes to challenge herself. “I have started practicing head stands at home. I am yet to master them, but I do really enjoy the challenge and look forward to being able to do the pose with the proper technique!”
The Seaton studio is now a regular space in Sally’s life and she enjoys coming to class to relax and get some time in for herself. “The feeling in the Seaton studio is amazing,” she says, “it is always so calm and welcoming. I love coming to the studio on week nights after work. It helps me to wind down from the day and I sleep better after a really good session.” Sally is looking forward to contuning on with her yoga journey and says she will even take it travelling with her later this year. “I am going to Hawaii at the end of September and I plan on doing yoga on the yoga floats in Honolulu!” she says.
From everyone at the Seaton studio, well done Sally!!! You are an awesome example of how yoga can help people on an emotional level, and living proof that everyone (including single Mum’s!) can do anything they set their mind to! You should be very proud and we hope yoga continues to bring you happiness.
Namaste!
