If you’re a fan of your 6am yoga class before work (like we are!) you will know the struggle of trying to fit in a decent breakfast before the workday begins!
We know that breakfast is important (especially with our super busy schedules!) but so is your morning yoga practice! Here are some of our favourite quick and healthy breakfast ideas that allow you to have your breakfast…and eat it, too!
Oats are super quick to make, plus great for digestion and slow-release energy! Plus they can be made in so many different ways.
Here’s one of Mike’s favourite variations:
½ cup oats
½ cup boiling water
2 Tbsp Greek yogurt
½ cup blue berries or strawberries
1 Tbsp LSA
1 Tbsp shredded coconut
Place oats in a bowl and pour boiling water over the top. Cover for 5 minutes, or until water is absorbed.
Top with remaining ingredients and enjoy!
As you probably know by now, we LOVE our smoothies! Smoothies are a great option for people on the run, especially because you can make them the night before! We especially love green smoothies because they add extra greens to your diet! Here is one we both enjoy:
Handful of spinach/baby spinach/kale
¼ cup of soya milk/almond/rice milk
teaspoon of honey
1 tablespoon of chia seeds
½ cup of water
Blend all ingredients until smooth. Drink immediately or refrigerate over night (give it a stir/shake before drinking!)
This is one of the recipes from our highly anticipated 21-day Detox Guide! Coming soon! Stay tuned!
We always try to avoid the white stuff as we try to keep our diets free from processed foods! Our sugar-free take on Bircher muesli is full of fiber, carbs and healthy fats! This is one of Suz’s weekend favourites!
½ cup muesli (be sure to use a natural, sugar-free muesli- without the dried fruit! Even better- make your own!)
½ cup unsweetened almond milk
2 Tbsp chia seeds
¼ cup raspberries (frozen or fresh)
2 Tbsp greek yogurt
Place muesli, almond milk, chia seeds and raspberries in a bowl. Cover and refrigerate overnight
Serve with yogurt and enjoy!
Zesty Avo on Rye
This one always keeps us full and satisfied and is great for when we are feeling like something savoury! If we have a couple of spare minutes (on that rare occasion) we like to add a fried egg or two!
½ ripe avocado
1 Tbsp soft feta (Danish is a softer option)
1 slice dark rye bread
1 tsp dill (fresh or dried)
squeeze of lemon
Himalayan salt and pepper to taste
Mash avocado with lemon, feta and dill in a bowl.
Toast the rye bread and then cover with avocado mixture. Add salt and pepper to taste. Enjoy!
These are just some of our favourite fast breakfast recipes! We hope you enjoy and experiment with them to suit your own diet and schedule needs!
