When we think ‘blenders,’ we often think ‘smoothies’ (yum!), however, our nifty little kitchen companions have lots of other uses besides whipping up yummy drinks! We use our blender a LOT, because we prefer to make our own foods rather than buying anything in jars or packets. This way we keep track of what we are putting in our bodies as well as avoiding added sugars, salts and yucky preservatives! We use our blender to make juices, smoothies, sauces, dips, smoothie bowls, healthy pancakes mixes- you name it, we’ll blend it!
Suz: My favourite thing to make with our blender is the ‘Lazano Costa Rican Sauce’ from our 21 Day Detox Guide (to be released VERY soon- can’t wait to share it with you!). We use a nutribullet but this can be made with any high-powered blender.
Looking for some blender recipe inspo? We have just the thing for you! Perfect to use as a dip at parties or as a topping for salads or wraps, we present to you: our Cashew Pesto (à-la-blender!)
1 cup raw cashews
Juice of 1 lemon
1 bunch fresh sweet basil
1 tsp Himalayan salt
½ cup olive oil
Place all ingredients in a blender and process until smooth.
Use as a salad dressing or as a dip with chopped carrots or cherry tomatoes! YUM!
