10 Things Yoga and Dogs Have In Common

“There is no faith that has never yet been broken, except that of a truly faithful dog”

– Konrad Lorenz

Here at PPHY, we LOVE our dogs! No matter which studio you practice at, you’re sure to see a sneaky puppy pic around the place! To celebrate ‘bring your dog to work’ day today, we couldn’t help but do a little write up about the benefit of our furry friends. When you think about it – dogs and yoga have a lot in common!

They enhance your life…

Just like yoga, dogs just make everything better!

They increase happiness levels…

This one is a no brainer – both yoga and dogs have been known to cause smiles (especially when dogs try to do yoga!)

Her favourite things are going to the north Adelaide dog park to play with her friends and stopping in at the cafes with us on Prospect road . “We bring her to the studio to say hello sometimes after her run and she laps up all the pats and attention from a crowd of students in the carpark.” – Sarah

They can help with depression and anxiety…

Studies have shown that dogs can help those suffering from emotional issues… just like yoga!

They increase your fitness levels…

We know this of yoga, but did you know that dogs are the best workout buddies going around? They get you outside and in the fresh air – and wont take no for an answer!

They’re always there when you need them…
Just like a trusty yoga mat, dogs are always there when you need them and always happy to see you (usually with a wagging tail!)

They remind you about what’s important…
Sometimes our busy lives can get in the way of a clear mind, and we can lose sight of what’s important. Both yoga and dogs are great for reminding us to stop and enjoy the moment. (Dogs are also great at reminding you when it’s their dinner time).

They can be a bit silly…

Certain yoga poses can make us feel a bit giggly (happy baby pose comes to mind!) and same goes for dogs. It’s amazing what they can do to make us laugh every day.

They love a nice stretch…

What do dogs do as soon as they wake up? They stretch! This is an instinct that humans seem to have forgotten somewhere throughout history – but our trusty dogs are here to remind us what’s good!

They enjoy a good savasana…

This one goes without saying. See pic:

Savasana. Anytime. Anywhere.

They love you for you…

Just as your mat is a judgement-free space, your dog always has the same view of you. They are always happy to see you and always up for a cuddle and a laugh.

Heidi is a regular on the Seaton studio social pages. She is the fur baby of our content developer and yoga teacher, Rach. Heidi likes sower sobs and interrupting outdoor yoga sequences.

We love our dogs!

Namaste!
